Max Zhangcourtesy of on.cccourtesy of singtao.comcourtesy of mingpao.comThe film IP MAN 4: THE FINALE two nights ago held a charity premiere at the Convention center. Lead actor Donnie Yen Chi Tan attended with his wife Cissy Wang, their children and his in laws. Chi Tan at the same time revealed that his son turned 12 two days ago, the same age as his IP MAN film series. He even admitted that after years of kung fu films he was battered and bruised, but for a living he could only keep fighting. Chi Tan said that his son has seen IP MAN films but made fun of his performance. Chi Tan said, "My son feels that I am lousy because Mommy is the powerful one." Chi Tan said that he let his son study martial arts and come in contact with different kung fu and mixed martial arts, but children have many interests. Thus he would not force them to learn. In addition he is already a taekwondo black belt, but he was too lazy to go any higher. As for his son's martial art talent, would Lord Tan cultivate him to be his successor? He said, "My son is still little, I haven't thought much about it. Everyone knew that this business is glorious on the surface, but fight scenes would have a lot of injuries. I was lucky I only have muscle strain, but sometimes it hurts when I punch. I can't stand up straight. It would deteriorate as I get older. This is the price of being an action actor." As for whether he would no longer make action films, Lord Tan said, "I will fight, I still have to make a living. I am only no longer making kung fu films. Other action films I will still do. My company is still in operation." Attending the premiere alone, Max Zhang Jin said that his wife had to stay home to be their son's "personal cafeteria". His middle finger was packaged. He explained that earlier when he was trying to learn about the new drone photography techniques he was injured on a screw. Did his wife Ada Choi Siu Fun blame him? Zhang Jin said, "No, since it wasn't hooking up with girls I won't get yelled at. She still told me to be careful next time. For now I can't help bathe our son because I can't get the wound wet." Two days ago was not only the birthday of Chi Tan's son but also the month anniversary of Zhang Jin's son. He admitted that time was going by too fast. It did not feel real to him. For now he has not decided whether to host a hundred day banquet for his son. Two days ago was also the first time that he brought his son to the streets. With their two daughters it felt like a big deal. Having admired Yen Chi Tan for many years, Vanness Wu (Ng Kin Ho) lamented not having a scene to spar with him in the film. Kin Ho said, "In the film I mainly had dramatic scene, I didn't have many fight scene. Originally I had a fight scene, but later the director it was unnecessary. I also respect the story and director's request." Speaking of his friend Godfrey Gao's funeral in Taiwan yesterday. Ng Kin Ho said that the funeral took place in the morning. Because he had to work in Hong Kong, even if he returned to Taiwan overnight he probably would not make it. Thus he could only miss his friend's funeral.

The Hong Kong Stuntman Association yesterday held a memorial event at a Tsim Sha Tsui East hotel and helped his family in fulfilling Chan Sing's final wish. Attendees included Sammo Hung Kam Bo, Yusuaki Kurata and his daughter, Chin Kar Lok, Chin Siu Ho, Mak Tak Law, Susan Shaw Yam Yam, Lau Won, Joe Cheung Tung Cho and Cheung Lui. The memorial played videos of Chan Sing's films, friends Hung Kam Bo, Yusuaki Kurata and others shared their experience with Chan Sing Originally working on a new film in Beijing, Big Brother returned to Hong Kong just for his friend's memorial. He said that he already knew Brother Sing at age 18 or 19. The most memorable was working with him on the film THE IRON FISTED MONK. At the time Brother Sing was the lead actor and he was the action director. They worked together many times and spent a lot of time together at work, but in the past 20 years they have not seen each other. He said, "Because I was tied up, but several weeks ago we talked on the phone. He even said that he was in great health. I was very surprised to hear that he passed away in his sleep. He was comfortable because he had no pain, but I don't feel so good in my heart." He also admitted that he was old and liked to remember the past. Since they lived and existed in the same air, although they did not see each other often he would still miss and remember him. Because they worked together, the relationship was still there. He lamented, "Nowadays friends are fewer and fewer, I really cherish friendship. However due to health I can't always entertain them. My body can't handle it. I am very happy to get together occasionally." Chin Kar Lok and Chan Sing's widow spoke to the media. Ka Lok said that this time he represented the Hong Kong Stuntman Association in organizing the memorial. Because they only had two weeks to plan, he had to thank many friends for their helping hands. The Association would cover the cost. Kar Lok said that although he has never worked with Chan Sing, he worked with Big Brother since he was young. The first film that Big Brother directed starred Chan Sing. Kar Lok pointed out that Brother Sing in recent years settled in Indonesia. He learned that his final wish was returning to Hong Kong to see his friends. "Brother Sing's best friends were Bruce Lee and Hung Kam Bo, so I immediately called Big Brother and Big Brother returned to Hong Kong to attend. The memorial event went very smoothly, it was a blessing for Brother Sing. I am very grateful. When you treat people well normally, friends would come back. Even Yusuaki Kurata flew from Japan. I always say the most amazing about the elders isn't kung fu, but their loyalty." Mrs. Chan said that she was very pleased with the memorial arrangement. Many friends, family and descendants came. As for Brother Sing's wishes, she revealed that Brother Sing's wishes was to build a memorial hall in Indonesia. "We just finally the first one, they will be five in total. Inside them will be Brother Sing's items. They will be used for charity as well, for children's education and Chinese lessons."

The altar was decorated in beige and filled with lily flowers. In front of the altar was a floral arrangement from his son Lai Siu Bun and daughter in law Lam Kei Wan. Former wife Susanna Kwan Kuk Ying and friend Nancy Sit Ka Yin's floral arrangements were also on display near his photo. The most special was a floral arrangement from Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing. The name was framed in black. A projector was on the right side of the hall and showed highlight of Lai Siu Tin's life and music. He met many of the company's new comers first and he gave a lot of suggestions. The final time I saw him was at the hospital, a week before he passed. He was very peaceful. His passing was very regrettable because he was a very talented musical genius. The atmosphere at the altar was very peaceful, but a black butterfly with white spot appeared. From 5PM until now it was still on a chair. A group of friends surrounded the butterfly to say goodbye." Ah Jeh left after half a hour and stopped to speak to the media. She said that she saw many decade long friends from both on and off screen. Siu Tin's friend circle was very wide, with people in music and film. She, Philip Chan Yan Kin and others sat together and talked about their experience with Siu Tin, but she did not attend the viewing. Speaking of Mani mentioning that a butterfly was inside, Ah Jeh said that she did not see it. Chan Siu Ha's husband Lee Man Fai said that he has known Siu Tin for several decades, they used to constantly meet to chat. Siu Tin would sing and play the piano, but earlier he did not know about Siu Tin's illness. He only found out from the newspapers, so he truly felt sorry. Although they have not seen each other for over a year, they still talked on the phone. He remembered when he got married Siu Tin attended and even complained that that he did not have a piano to play. Chan Siu Ha broke down and said, "Siu Tin was a great person. Earlier originally we had some charity work and music that we wanted to work with Siu Tin on. When I went to the hospital I saw many reporters, but I didn't know they were there for him. (Did you regret that you didn't contact Siu Tin?) No, I would pray for him and am very grateful that he held a wake. Those of us in Hong Kong could come and send him on his final journey."

Ka Lok admitted that despite the current market he would have two holiday film releases, which were great shots of confidence and encouraged him to keep working hard. As for being seen as capable of taking the baton, Ka Lok humbly said that he was not officially trained. He hoped to participate in even more productions to hone his acting, and already enrolled in drama training classes in hopes of going further. In YOU Ka Lok would transform into a dominating hot property and create a city romance with Gladys. He pointed out that this character would be greatly challenging, because in the past he often played the sunny boy but this time director Yip Lim Sum designed a despicable but likable new attempt for him. Working as a couple for the first time with Gladys, Ka Lok praised her as smart and talented. She had a sense for everything around him and could very easily be triggered emotionally. For a new actor, she already had a natural advantage of being able to express her personal emotions.

After the ceremony, the remains were transported to Cape Collinson crematorium for the official farewell to the mortal world. Lai Siu Tin's son Lai Siu Bun and his DJ wife Lam Kei Wan arrived at 9AM and entered the venue quickly. Siu Tin's disciple Luk Bo and sister Lai Hoi Ning arrive early to oversee the affair. Nancy Sit Ka Yin with her younger daughter Shek Yiu Chu entered in a low key manner, then Junior Anderson (On Tak Chuen), Lo Chun Shun, Lam Lei, Wu Wai Hong, Meg Lam Kin Ming, Khloe Chu Chi Hiu, Jacqueline Man Pui Ling, arrived. Security stood guard outside the doors. The ceremony began at 10:10 AM. The family maintained a low profile and covered up the halls to keep out the media. After the ceremony ended, workers transported Lai Siu Tin's coffin from the hall to the hearse. Son Lai Siu Bun carried out his father's photo and entered the hearse. His wife Lam Kei Wan followed. Sister Ka Yin in the company of her younger daughter Shek Yiu Chu and On Tak Chuen stepped out of the hall as she sobbed. Then the trio left for the crematorium to send their friend on his final journey. Other family and friends also boarded a bus for the destination as well. Around noon, the hearse, family and friends arrived at the crematorium. Sister Ka Yin frowned, and while waiting to enter the hall could not help but stare at Siu Tin's photo. She chatted with Lai Siu Bun and pointed toward the photo as if she was recalling the past. The cremation ceremony ended after ten minutes. Family and friends after leaving the hall followed the traditional leap over fire. Many were in tears. Sister Ka Yin was the most upset. Lo Chun Shun tried to comfort her. Finally she embraced Siu Tin's son and daughter in law to bid farewell. Before boarding her vehicle she said hoarsely to the media, "Thank you everyone!"

Kevin Cheng covers Bosco Wong in the wheel chair while Louis Koo surveys the locationcourtesy of on.cccourtesy of singtao.comJulian Cheung Chi Lam yesterday with Jessica Hester Hsuan (Suen Huen), Toby Chan Ting Yan and Wilfred Lau Ho Lung worked on a new film in Tsim Sha Tsui. Co-stars included Louis Koo Tin Lok, Kevin Cheng Ka Wing, Bosco Wong Chung Chak, Deon Cheung Chung Chi and Janelle Sing (Xia Yan). Goo Jai earlier already finished his shoot and left. The team borrowed the Cultural Center stairway and used almost 100 extras for an international anti terror conference event. When Suen Huen spoke on the stage, suddenly a loud bang caused a stir in the crowd. Chilam led his crew to rush the stage to protect Suen Huen from the danger. The team already began production early on. Because the location was a famous tourist attraction, pedestrians and tourists looked on. Chilam still looked great despite working for most of the day. Full of expressions, he chatted and laughed with Chan Ting Yan and Lau Ho Lung. Lau Ho Lung on the other hand often yawned. The shoot went very smoothly. After several takes the team finished the production.

courtesy of mingpao.comcourtesy of singtao.comThe Calvin Poon Yuen Leung directed, Sammi Cheng Sau Man, Tong Dawei and Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin starred FATAL VISIT (SING HOR SAI MAU SAK ONG) recently received rave reviews from advanced screenings, as Sammi was uniformly seen as the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actress favorite. Sammi admitted that when she received the FATAL VISIT screenplay she already felt a kind of electricity. "This character of Ling is given a lot of dimensions, with different layers and levels deep inside. I hope my performance would be able to show viewers that the complexity of this character, good and bad." Sammi analyzed Ling's state of mind as complex but very clearly knew what she wanted to do. "Everything this woman does is out of love. Her love for Tang is very real, but she is very possessive." Shooting on location in Canada, Sammi joked that she really enjoyed that the feeling of detachment. With two good co-stars in Ah Sa and Tong Dawei and a team from different cultural backgrounds, they established trust in the midst of the communication. She received endless strength from the performance. She said, "Working with Dawei for the first time, I also haven't worked with Ah Sa in many years so it felt very fresh. Everyday of the process was very unforgettable for me, very pleasant. The most memorable were the two or three scenes, in which the three of us had emotional explosions. Whether with body or language we honed each other. In addition for Ah Sa's performance, as long as you found a shot, you could feel that Ah Sa was Yanny. She has already become that person, which was greatly helpful to my performance." Director Poon Yuen Leung praised Sammi as very serious and hard working, as she filled the thick screenplay full with notes. Sammi revealed that she secretly cooked up a minor detail for the character to have even more flesh and blood and greatly elevated the likeness. "I deliberately gained 8 to 10 pounds. Instead of making myself into a big fat lady, I hoped with this minor adjustment physically viewers would not as easily see that Sammi that they were used to seeing on the silver screen, the one that often played comedy. At the same time with the way Ling walk, talk I also made appropriate adjustments to better fit this role." The audience had nothing but praise for FATAL VISIT's three leads. Sammi stated that all the hard work was not wasted. "Thank you to those who have seen the advanced screenings. They gave me huge encouragement. I felt very happy that this performance was recognized, very lucky to have run into this character of Ling and to show viewers Sammi outside comedy!" A film critic boldly stated, "Cheng Sau Man can't lose the Best Actress!" Sammi said that she has been nominated for many years and was already used to losing the Best Actress award. "I would accept the result normally."

courtesy of mingpao.comcourtesy of on.ccENTER THE FAT DRAGON's Donnie YenDayo WongAnnie Liucourtesy of singtao.comIn recent months the Hong Kong social climax has not been poor. Consumer's desire to spend was greatly reduced. The film market that was gradually showing signs of life remained depressed, as many Hong Kong film release has been postponed. However the Lunar New Year has been a battleground every year. Yesterday Donnie Yen Chi Tan's ENTER THE FAT DRAGON (FEI LUNG GOR GONG) officially announced its entry into the Lunar New Year slot, while the Dayo Wong Tze Wah, Annie Liu (Lau Sum Yau) starred THE GRAND GRANDMASTER (MUK DOI SI JUNG) also released its promotional poster. The Yen Chi Tan, Teresa Mo Shun Kwan and Niki Chow Lai Kei starred ENTER THE FAT DRAGON has been confirmed for a Lunar 29th (January 23rd) release. Yen Chi Tan in the film was left at the altar by his fiance Chow Lai Kei and gave up on himself, as he became an over 200 pound "fat dragon". Yen Chi Tan everyday spent hours on his "chubby make up" and almost a hour to remove it after the shoot. Yen Chi Tan normally did not have snack, but in order to play the gluttonous "Fat Dragon" he would keep eating when he was not in a scene. He almost ate until he puked. Although Chi Tan became "chubby", he was just as agile as he fought from Hong Kong to Japan. He even stormed the Tokyo Tower with very exciting action scenes. As for THE GRAND GRANDMASTER, it would be the second film Wong Tze Wah wrote, directed and starred in since FIGHTING TO SURVIVE (YUT MUN GAI BO BIU). Wong Tze Wah last year with the Lunar New Year film AGENT MR. CHAN (DUNG DUK DUT GUNG) shook off the box office poison nickname. This time with THE GRAND GRANDMASTER he joined the Lunar New Year fray, conceivably he would have certain confidence. Wong Tze Wah in the film played Ma Fei Lung, the 19th generation of the Ma family thunder fist. Yet because of an accident, a female pedestrian embarrassed him in front of everyone and he was ruined. Later he realized that the female pedestrian Annie Liu (Lau Sum Yau) was a legendary boxer and thus issued a challenge to her in order to save his reputation. They even had a series of fight scenes. In the new film poster, Wong Tze Wah with blood on his face was surrounded by 14 cell phones as he appeared as the Grandmaster. With the slogan "when really faking it everything is fake", did he this time truly become an action actor or the usual comedy style? Viewers would find out when they go in.

courtesy of mingpao.comThe Ben Yuen Fu Wa and Tai Bo starred film SUK SUK after premiering earlier at the Busan International Film Festival and receiving 5 Golden Horse Award nominations got more good news two nights ago. SUK SUK was selected for the 70th Berlin International Film Festival. Director Ray Yueng Yiu Hoi excitedly said, "The team and I feel very honored for SUK SUK to be selected for the Berlin International Film Festival. I hope through this film to bring the public's attention to this topic that society would generally overlook." In the film two seniors Pak and Hoi have worked most of their lives, each with their own family, responsibility and harvest, but one day suddenly they lost their other halves in their lives. Years of repression and desire stirred up ripples in their lives, but they still had to face the binds of morality and family. PORT OF CALL (DAP HUET CHUM MUI)'s director Philip Yung Chi Kwong after seeing SUK SUK praised it as the most beautiful romantic film he has seen in at least the past ten years.
